Konkle's hat trick boosts Stoney Creek over Dundas, 10-8

Jarrett Konkle lifted the Stoney Creek Generals to a 10-8 victory with a hat trick against the Dundas Real McCoys.

Konkle notched his first tally 8:16 into the second period. He then added goals at 14:52 into the second and at 16:51 into the third.

Stoney Creek led by four goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Generals' Mike Ruberto scored at 4:33 in the second period to put Stoney Creek up 4-0.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 14:43 into the first period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with three game misconducts.

The Generals were often in penalty trouble, totaling six minors and one major for 27 minutes in penalty time. Stoney Creek surpassed its season average of 16.0 penalty minutes per game. The Generals' offense rang up 55 shots on Dundas' net. Stoney Creek surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Generals average 7.0 goals per game.

Stoney Creek also got points from Ruberto, who also finished with two goals and three assists, Sean Blanchard, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, and Andrew Radjenovic, who also registered three goals and three assists. Stoney Creek also got a goal from Tyler Donati as well. Other players who recorded assists for Stoney Creek were Ryan Healy, who had two and Jordan Gignac and Matt Ruberto, who contributed one each.

The Real McCoys racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with eight minors and one major for 31 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 11.0 minutes per game Dundas had been spending in the box. The Real McCoys excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in seven chances. Dundas kept Stoney Creek's goalie busy throughout the game, and Daniel Svedin made 27 saves on 35 shots. The Real McCoys found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, Dundas averages 4.0 goals per contest.

The Real McCoys were led by Cam Watson, who tallied three goals and two assists. Dundas additionally got points from Chris Hulit, who also had three goals and one assist. Others who scored for Dundas included Curtis Campbell and Jake Guindon, who each put in one. In addition, Dundas received assists from Trevor Atkinson, who had two, Dan Brewer and Scott Stafford, who each chipped in one, and Matthew Bragg and Steve Hurst, who contributed three each.

For the Generals, Chris Knighton was ejected from the game. Mike Mole rejected 45 shots on goal for Dundas. The Real McCoys registered one goal on five power play opportunities. Dundas ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Jordan Foreman was ejected from the game.
