Sly lifts Penetang over Caledon, 7-2

Ben Sly was all over the ice for the Penetang Kings, as he tallied four goals in Penetang's 7-2 win over the Caledon Golden Hawks.

Sly got on the scoresheet 9:19 into the first period. He then added goals at 19:42 into the first, at 7:11 into the third, and at 13:24 into the third.

The Kings forced Golden Hawks' goalies to work between the pipes, racking up 45 shots and forcing 38 saves. Sam Procopio made 32 stops and Brendan Macham made six. Penetang put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Caledon to score on any of its four power plays. The Kings found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, Penetang averages 3.6 goals per contest.

Penetang additionally got points from Braeden Dorion, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Caleb Stephens, who also had one goal and two assists. Penetang also got a goal from Matt Cochrane as well. Other players who recorded assists for Penetang were Dallin Blunt, Matt Prucha, Brad Kuepfer, Matt Gill, Michael Greco, and Hunter Ferguson, who each chipped in one and Craig Robinson and Matt Meher, who contributed two each.

The Golden Hawks' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Penetang power plays. Caledon forced the Kings goalie Ferguson to work between the pipes, taking 55 shots.

The Golden Hawks were led by Christian Mariconda, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Mariconda scored 15:07 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Penetang. Matt Magliozzi provided the assist. Nicholas McNutt also scored for Caledon. In addition, Caledon received assists from Ryan Mouser and Daniel Cafagna, who each chipped in one.

Penetang's Ferguson stopped 53 shots out of the 55 that he faced. The Kings incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Caledon incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
