Zantingh lifts Huntsville over Schomberg, 4-0

Josh Zantingh had two goals to lead the Huntsville Otters to a 4-0 victory over the Schomberg Cougars.

Zantingh scored at 1:38 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Huntsville and again while 5:30 into the second to make the score 2-0 Huntsville.

Huntsville was boosted by Nathan Antonides, who turned in a shutout with 39 saves. The solid play of Antonides will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 1.01.

The Otters pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 61 penalty minutes.

Huntsville stifled Schomberg's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Otters forced the Cougars goalie Alex Traikos to work between the pipes, taking 41 shots.

Huntsville also got points from Jake McIntyre, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Huntsville also got a goal from Ty Traynor as well. Other players who recorded assists for Huntsville were Myles York, who had two and Curtis Ballantyne, Nathan Zantingh, Jared Stevens, and Kyle Burns, who contributed one each.

Schomberg was held below its usual level of production. The Cougars put an average of 3.4 pucks into the net per game. Schomberg's offense rang up 39 shots on Huntsville's net. The Cougars' power play unit failed to produce, and was held to zero goals on 10 chances. Schomberg was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 58 penalty minutes.

The Otters registered one goal on nine power play opportunities. Huntsville ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Sam King was ejected from the game. The Cougars' Traikos stopped 37 shots out of the 41 that he faced.
