Erin wins tough contest against Penetang, 5-3

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Erin Shamrocks escaped with a 5-3 victory over the Penetang Kings.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Mike Nicolucci at 8:00 of the third period.

Connor Mortimer had two goals and one assist to lead Erin. Mortimer scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 8:51 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Erin. The Shamrocks had taken the advantage when Penetang's Michael Greco got sent off for interference. Alec Littlejohn provided the assist. Mortimer's next tally on the power play made the score 5-3 Erin with 4:34 left in the third period. Nicolucci picked up the assist.

Erin pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 32 penalty minutes.

The Shamrocks got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Erin additionally got points from Nicolucci, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Reiss Debrouwer, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Erin also got a goal from Liam Adamson as well. In addition, Erin received assists from Keegan Martinec, Brad Ranson, Brigg Jones, and James Watson-Bagg, who each chipped in one.

The Kings were helped by Matt Cochrane, who had one goal. Cochrane scored 13:14 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Erin. Ben Sly assisted on the tally. Penetang also got points from Caleb Stephens, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Craig Robinson also scored for Penetang. More assists for Penetang came via Tye Sterne, Matt Gill, and Andrew North, who contributed one each.

Erin registered one goal on three power play opportunities. The Shamrocks ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Justin Wing was ejected from the game. Penetang incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
