Gunn lifts Erin over Schomberg, 6-3

The Erin Shamrocks relied on the scoring touch of Jesse Gunn, who netted two goals, to beat the Schomberg Cougars, 6-3.

Gunn's tallies came at 8:34 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Erin and 14:31 into the second to make the score 4-2 Erin.

Erin pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 18 penalty minutes.

The Shamrocks stifled Schomberg's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Erin found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Shamrocks average 3.2 goals per game.

Erin additionally got points from Liam Adamson, who also racked up two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Erin also had goals scored by Owen Adamson and Brigg Jones, who scored one goal each. In addition, Erin received assists from Mike Nicolucci and Brad Ranson, who contributed one each and Alec Littlejohn and Reiss Debrouwer, who each chipped in two.

The Cougars' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Schomberg finished with 46 penalty minutes.

The Cougars were helped by Brendan Spencer, who grabbed one goal. Spencer scored 12:32 into the third period to make the score 5-3 Erin. Others who scored for Schomberg included Kiefer McIntosh and Blake Culley, who each put in one. More assists for Schomberg came via Ryley Egerton, who had one.

Mark Terry recorded 20 saves for Erin. The Shamrocks registered two goals on eight power play opportunities. For Erin, Keegan Martinec was ejected from the game. Martin Lauzon made 15 saves for Schomberg on 20 shots. The Cougars registered zero goals on seven power play opportunities. Schomberg ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Mitchell Robinson was ejected from the game.
