Alliston survives penalties, beats Huntsville, 5-2

The Huntsville Otters failed to take advantage of their power play opportunities and the Alliston Hornets shook off a number of penalties to win, 5-2.

Alliston was paced by Joe Cochrane, who finished with one goal. Cochrane scored 4:12 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Alliston. Brady Martin provided the assist.

The Hornets excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in nine chances. Huntsville was unable to stop Alliston from sending pucks towards the net, and the Hornets eventually piled up 35 shots on goal. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals. Alliston could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game.

Alliston additionally got points from Braydon Hogarth, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Alliston also had goals scored by Devon Gillham, Payton Dunlop, and Jordan Schwartz, who each put in one. More assists for Alliston came via Mitch Livingston, Jacob Tuck, Stephen Nosad, John Gage, and Matt Hamilton, who each chipped in one.

The Otters were held below their usual level of production. Huntsville puts an average of 4.2 pucks into the net per game. The Otters found themselves short handed often, totaling 26 penalty minutes and allowing eight power plays.

Huntsville was helped by Shawn Antonides, who tallied one goal. Antonides scored 11:19 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Chris Hudson assisted on the tally. Huntsville also got a goal from Nathan Zantingh as well. In addition, Huntsville received assists from Josh Zantingh and Sye Ellard, who contributed one each.

Mike Masucci made 20 saves for the Hornets on 22 shots. Connor Christanson recorded 30 saves for the Otters.
