Huntsville's McIntyre deadly on offense in 6-2 win against StaynerStayner Memorial Arena Thu, Dec 17, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
Jake McIntyre had two goals to lead the Huntsville Otters to a 6-2 victory over the Stayner Siskins. McIntyre scored at 17:55 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Huntsville and again while 19:55 into the third to make the score 6-2 Huntsville.Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 12:26 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. Huntsville forced Stayner's goalies to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots and forcing 32 saves. Trevor Bloch made 32 stops and Sean Caulfield made zero. Team could not crack the Siskins' penalty kill and was held to one power play goal while having nine opportunities to play with the man advantage. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals. Huntsville also got points from Andy Baker, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Kyle Burns, who also finished with one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Huntsville also had goals scored by Dalton Mceachran and Jared Stevens, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Huntsville were Matt Jobson, Josh Zantingh, and Sam King, who each chipped in one. Stayner racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with 12 minors and one major for 39 minutes in penalty time. The Siskins had been averaging 25.0 minutes in penalties per game. Stayner was helped by Trevor Franklin, who registered one goal. Franklin scored on the power play 5:19 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Stayner. The Siskins had gained a power play chance when McIntyre was whistled for roughing. Sean Healy picked up the assist. Stayner also got a goal from Ricky Darrell as well. In addition, Stayner received assists from Mike McGuire and Brendon Skidmore, who contributed one each. The Otters' Connor Christanson stopped 27 shots out of the 29 that he faced. Huntsville ended with 21 minutes in penalty time with eight minors and one major. Team's Jobson and Zantingh were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Stayner registered two goals on six power play opportunities. For the Siskins, Ben Skuce and Darrell were ejected from the contest.
