Alliston survives penalties, beats Huntsville, 7-1

The Alliston Hornets' penalty kill was superb, as Alliston survived multiple penalties to beat the Huntsville Otters, 7-1.

The Hornets were paced by Gianluca Pallotta APM, who registered one goal. Pallotta APM scored 15:50 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Alliston. Ryan Sallows assisted on the tally.

Alliston excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. The Hornets kept Huntsville's goalie busy throughout the game, and Jamie Gee made 33 saves on 40 shots. Alliston got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game. The Hornets were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 26 penalty minutes.

Others who scored for Alliston included Jackson Arcan, who had two and Devon Gillham, Nick Arcan, Braydon Hogarth, and John Gage, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Alliston were Mitch Livingston, Joe Cochrane, Stephen Nosad, and Ryan Lewis, who contributed one each and Brady Martin and Andrew Ceolin, who each chipped in three.

The Otters were relatively well disciplined in the game, receiving only nine minors and one major for 23 minutes in penalty time. Huntsville stayed under its season average of 29.0 penalties minutes per game this season. The Otters could not produce up to their normal offensive output. Huntsville puts an average of 4.2 pucks into the net per game.

The Otters were led by Sam King, who scored the team's only goal. King scored 20 seconds into the second period to make the score 3-1 Alliston. Tyler Kalbe picked up the assist.

Alliston's Mike Masucci stopped 24 shots out of the 25 that he faced. The Hornets registered two goals on nine power play opportunities. Huntsville ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Cam Russell was ejected from the game.
