M1 Duquesne University falls to M1 Canisius College in overtime, 6-5 (OT)

The M1 Canisius College Golden Griffins pulled out a 6-5 (OT) overtime victory over the M1 Duquesne University Dukes on a clutch goal by Patrick Hurtubise.

M1 Canisius College came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Golden Griffins trailed 4-2 after a goal by M1 Duquesne University's Thomas Diffendal at 17:52 in the second period. M1 Canisius College knotted things up at 5-5 on a goal by Jess Hackett at 9:15 in the third period.

The Golden Griffins were led by Hurtubise, who registered one goal. Hurtubise scored 3:12 into overtime to make the score 6-5 M1 Canisius College. Brandon Bork picked up the assist.

The Dukes were unable to stop M1 Canisius College from sending pucks towards the net, and the Golden Griffins eventually piled up 37 shots on goal. M1 Canisius College surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Golden Griffins have scored at the pace of 3.5 goals per game during the current campaign.

M1 Canisius College also got points from Matthew Madden, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and Hackett, who also had one goal and one assist. More assists for M1 Canisius College came via Samuel Burkhardt and Matthew Muszynski, who contributed one each and Andrew Ferrentino and Jesse Caulkins, who each chipped in two.

M1 Duquesne University put 26 shots on net during the contest, more than the 0.2 it averages per game. The Dukes' goal total was higher than their season average. M1 Duquesne University averages 1.6 goal per game.

The Dukes were helped by Bernie Lettieri, who tallied one goal. Lettieri scored 56 seconds into the second period to make the score 3-2 M1 Duquesne University. Tristan Schimanski provided the assist. M1 Duquesne University's Michael Dginto stopped 31 shots out of the 37 that he faced. The Dukes totaled 29 minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 1-for-5 on the power play. For M1 Duquesne University, Clar and Nolan Trombetta were ejected from the contest.
