M1 Lindenwood University vanquishes M1 Ohio University in shootout, 5-4 (3-2 SO)Bird Arena Fri, Oct 16, 2015 Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the M1 Lindenwood University Lions defeated the M1 Ohio University Bobcats in a shootout 5-4 (3-2 SO). The shootout featured six attempts between both teams. M1 Ohio University's shootout goals were scored by Matthew Rudin and Tyler Pecka. M1 Lindenwood University's other shootout goals were scored by Michael Lozano and Kevin Walters.The Lions saw a three-goal lead disappear, but was able to secure the win in a shootout. M1 Lindenwood University made the score 4-1 on a goal by Riley Spraggs at 11:13 in the second period. The Bobcats evened things up at 4-4 on a goal by Rudin at 19:00 in the third period. The Lions were led by Lozano, who registered one goal. Lozano scored 12:30 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Brennan Luscombe picked up the assist. With 18 shots on target during the contest, M1 Lindenwood University exceeded the 0.3 shots it averages per game this year. M1 Lindenwood University also got points from Lukas Daniels, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Spraggs, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Stephen Bopp also scored for M1 Lindenwood University. More assists for M1 Lindenwood University came via Tommy Heinzman and Brett Bauza, who each chipped in one. M1 Ohio University gave up more goals than its normal season average. The Bobcats average 1.8 goal allowed per game. M1 Ohio University's offense was clicking better than usual and put 34 shots on goal during the game, better than the 6.5 shots per game it averages. M1 Ohio University also had goals scored by Michael Harris and Jake Faiella, who scored one goal each. In addition, M1 Ohio University received assists from Mike LaFrenier and Liam Geither, who contributed one each and Patrick Spellacy and Matthew Hartman, who each chipped in two. Cody Karpinski recorded 30 saves for the Lions. M1 Lindenwood University incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Aaron Alkema made six saves before being replaced by Ryan Heltion, who took the sol and made seven saves. The Bobcats incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
