M1 Ohio University rips M1 Eastern Michigan University, 9-1

The M1 Ohio University Bobcats had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 9-1 win over the M1 Eastern Michigan University Eagles.

M1 Eastern Michigan University was doomed by its poor performance on special teams, as M1 Ohio University was able to score six times while on the power play.

The Bobcats were led by Matthew Rudin, who had one goal and one assist. Rudin scored 17:43 into the first period to make the score 2-1 M1 Ohio University. Bryan Lubin provided the assist.

M1 Ohio University excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Bobcats bested their season scoring average. This season, M1 Ohio University averages 5.0 goals per contest. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with five goals. The Bobcats put 59 shots on net during the contest, more than the 6.0 they average per game. M1 Ohio University could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 50 minutes in penalties during the game.

M1 Ohio University also got points from Tyler Pecka, who also registered two goals and one assist, Trent Johnson, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Mike LaFrenier, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. M1 Ohio University also had goals scored by Michael Harris, who had two and Matthew Hartman and Alexander Vazquez, who scored one goal each. In addition, M1 Ohio University received assists from Patrick Spellacy, Joey Breslin, Jake Faiella, Graham Harwood, Diego Breckenridge, Adam Steranko, and Vincent Nicolella, who contributed one each.

The Eagles racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with eight minors and two majors for 66 minutes in penalty time. M1 Eastern Michigan University had been averaging 18.0 minutes in penalties per game. The Eagles struggled to put together a cohesive attack and finished with a mere 13 shots over the course of the game. However, M1 Eastern Michigan University ripped more shots in the game than the 1.8 per game it averages.

The Eagles were led by Zachary Willis, who scored the team's only goal. Willis scored 2:42 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Matthew Angelosanto assisted on the tally.

Ryan Heltion rejected 12 shots on goal for the Bobcats. Jacob Mulka made 50 saves for M1 Eastern Michigan University on 59 shots. The Eagles ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Jake Zaborowski was ejected from the game.
