Blenheim survives Lakeshore comeback, wins 4-3

The Lakeshore Canadiens tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Blenheim Blades held on for a 4-3 victory.

Blenheim made the score 4-2 on a goal by Bryan Boersma at 11:40 in the third period, and Lakeshore got as close as 4-3 when Hunter Corp scored 19:40 into the third period.

The Canadiens' power play was ineffective against the Blades' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

Blenheim was often in penalty trouble, totaling seven minors and one major for 29 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 21.0 minutes per game the Blades had been spending in the box.

Blenheim additionally got points from Matt Clark, who also registered one goal and one assist and Brayden Hopkins, who also tallied one goal and one assist. George Wood also scored for Blenheim. More assists for Blenheim came via Drew Marlatt, who had two and Kirk McKillop, Brendan Ritchie, Zack Horvath, and Dustin Maines, who each chipped in one.

Lakeshore kept Blenheim's goalie busy throughout the game, and Klinton Kenney made 32 saves on 35 shots.

The Canadiens were helped by Guy Levesque, who finished with one goal. Levesque scored 14:09 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Lakeshore. Colin Sartor provided the assist. Lakeshore also got points from Corp, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Blake Rutckyj, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Lakeshore received assists from Joe Binder, Brenden Crundwell, and Mejoe Gasparovic, who contributed one each.

The Blades registered two goals on four power play opportunities. Blenheim ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Hopkins was ejected from the game. Derion Ducedre recorded 15 saves for Lakeshore. The Canadiens incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
