Kir leads Wheatley over Amherstburg, 4-1

Calyn Kir had two goals and one assist to lead the Wheatley Omstead Sharks to a 4-1 victory over the Amherstburg Integrity Admirals.

Kir scored at 3:55 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Wheatley and again while 17:06 into the third to make the score 2-1 Wheatley.

Amherstburg was stymied by Wheatley's netminder Adam Leboeuf, who stopped 33 shots during the victory. The solid play of Leboeuf will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 4.95.

The Omstead Sharks stifled the Integrity Admirals' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Wheatley also got points from Delaney MacDonald, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Wheatley also got a goal from Brett Bowman as well. Other players who recorded assists for Wheatley were Derek Toews, Nick Tavolieri-Essex, Cole Butler, and Andreas Gossmann, who contributed one each.

Amherstburg excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Integrity Admirals were held below their usual level of production. Amherstburg averages 4.3 goals per game. The Integrity Admirals' offense rang up 34 shots on Wheatley's net.

Amherstburg was led by Kasey Basile, who scored the team's only goal. Basile scored 16:25 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Mitchell Holden provided the assist.

The Omstead Sharks incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Integrity Admirals' Daniel Tonietto stopped 23 shots out of the 25 that he faced. Amherstburg incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
