Bowman leads Wheatley over Alvinston, 6-3

The Wheatley Omstead Sharks' Brett Bowman had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 6-3 win over the Alvinston Flyers.

Bowman scored on the power play at 3:44 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Wheatley and again while 7:36 into the second to make the score 3-2 Wheatley.

Wheatley forced Alvinston goalie Matt Boere to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots. The Omstead Sharks surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Wheatley averages 3.6 goals per game.

Wheatley additionally got points from Jack Leafeve, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Wheatley included Delaney MacDonald, Frankie Ciacelli, and Justin Pinsonneault, who scored one goal each. More assists for Wheatley came via Brian Johnson, Evan Mastronardi, Eric Prudence, Mitchell Prudence, and Mitch Lantin, who contributed one each and Nick Tavolieri-Essex and Cole Butler, who each chipped in two.

The Flyers could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 28 minutes in penalties during the game.

Alvinston was helped by Karsten Berg, who had one goal. Berg scored on the power play 6:37 into the second period to make the score 2-2. The Flyers had gained a power play chance when Johnson was whistled for slashing. Alvinston also got points from Jeremy VanDeven, who also registered one goal and one assist and Joe Stock, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Alvinston received assists from Clint Rose and Zach VanEyk, who contributed one each.

The Omstead Sharks' Eric Morneau stopped 23 shots out of the 26 that he faced. Wheatley incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Boere rejected 29 shots on goal for Alvinston. The Flyers registered one goal on three power play opportunities. Alvinston ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Fraser Wilson was ejected from the game.
