Wheaton, Essex blank Amherstburg, 4-0Essex Centre Sports Complex Tue, Dec 29, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
Trevor Wheaton made 26 saves to complete the shutout and led the Essex 73s to a 4-0 win against the Amherstburg Integrity Admirals. Essex was sparked by Tyler Scott, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Scott scored 4:10 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Essex. Eric Shaw picked up the assist. The 73s' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Amherstburg power plays. Amherstburg was unable to stop Essex from sending pucks towards the net, and the 73s eventually piled up 42 shots on goal. Essex also had goals scored by Matthew Hebert, Phil Janikowski, and Max Viselli, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Essex were Riley Meyerink, Kade McKibbin, Cody Leeming, Tyler Boughner, and Luke Gecse, who contributed one each. The Integrity Admirals stifled Essex's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Amherstburg did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Integrity Admirals average 4.5 goals per game. The 73s incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Connor Meyerink made 38 saves for Amherstburg on 42 shots. The Integrity Admirals ended with 19 minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major. Amherstburg ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Luke Gangnon was ejected from the game.
