Wheaton leads Essex to shutout victory over DresdenEssex Centre Sports Complex Tue, Dec 08, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
Trevor Wheaton made 26 saves to complete the shutout and led the Essex 73s to a 4-0 win against the Dresden Kings. Essex was paced by Matthew Hebert, who grabbed one goal. Hebert scored 5:13 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Essex. Tyler Scott picked up the assist. The 73s excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Dresden was unable to stop Essex from sending pucks towards the net, and the 73s eventually piled up 36 shots on goal. Others who scored for Essex included Phil Janikowski, Tyler Turner, and Michael Vieira, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Essex were Matthew Rosati, Brett Vorshuk, William Stadder, Tyler Boughner, Alixe Saliba, and Dallas Pereira, who contributed one each. The Kings could not produce up to their normal offensive output. Dresden averages 3.6 goals per game. Essex incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Travis Moore rejected 32 shots on goal for the Kings. Dresden incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
