Amherstburg blows out Alvinston, 8-3

The Amherstburg Integrity Admirals were firing on all cylinders against the Alvinston Flyers, and when the final buzzer sounded Integrity Admirals emerged with an 8-3 win.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 15:03 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Amherstburg excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Integrity Admirals bested their season scoring average. This season, Amherstburg averages 4.3 goals per contest.

The Integrity Admirals were led by Kasey Basile, who registered one goal and two assists. Basile scored 3:46 into the third period to make the score 8-3 Amherstburg. Michael Hatch assisted on the tally. Amherstburg also got points from Caleb Paquette, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Ryan Holzel, who also had one goal and one assist, Broden Meloche, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Chad Copeland, who also registered one goal and one assist. Ryan Alexander also scored for Amherstburg. In addition, Amherstburg received assists from Luke Gangnon, who had two and Jordan Luciw, Lucas Bersuk, Marshal Laing, Dylan Muzzatti, and Cody Leeming, who each chipped in one.

Alvinston put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Amherstburg to score on any of its four power plays. The Flyers forced the Integrity Admirals goalie Connor Meyerink to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots.

Alvinston was helped by Hunter Bryce, who registered two goals. Bryce scored the first of his two goals at 8:39 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Amherstburg. Kole Keating picked up the assist. Bryce's next tally made the score 7-3 Amherstburg with 2:38 left in the second period. Fraser Wilson provided the assist. Alvinston also got a goal from Jeremy VanDeven as well. More assists for Alvinston came via Karsten Berg, who had two.

Meyerink recorded 32 saves for Amherstburg. The Integrity Admirals ended with 21 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major. Amherstburg ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Alexander was ejected from the game. Matt Boere took the loss and made 11 saves before being replaced by Cam MacAlpine who made 11 saves. The Flyers ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. For Alvinston, VanDeven was ejected from the game.
