Dresden rolls over Wallaceburg, 6-1

The Wallaceburg Lakers had trouble finding ways to stop the Dresden Kings, which beat Lakers, 6-1.

Dresden's Travis Moore was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 33 saves and let only one puck past him. Moore certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 4.19 entering the contest.

The Kings' penalty kill excelled, as Dresden gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

The Kings forced Wallaceburg's goaltenders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, taking 36 shots and forcing 30 saves. George Hill made 25 stops and Alex Carriere made five. Dresden stifled the Lakers' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Kings found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Dresden averages 3.5 goals per game.

The Kings were led by Derek Shaw, who registered one goal and one assist. Shaw scored 4:32 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Dresden. Logan Purbrick provided the assist. Dresden additionally got points from Dillon Liberty, who also tallied one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and Derek Daly, who also had one goal and one assist. Dresden also had goals scored by John Montgomery, Carter Smith, and Isaac McLean, who scored one goal each. More assists for Dresden came via Brady Hogg, Kyle Dawson, and Will Tetzlaff, who contributed one each.

Wallaceburg put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Dresden to score on any of its five power plays. The Kings were unable to stop the Lakers from sending pucks towards the net, and Wallaceburg eventually piled up 34 shots on goal.

The Lakers were led by Justin Browning, who scored the team's only goal. Browning scored 10:40 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Dresden. Alex Ritchie picked up the assist.

Dresden incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Wallaceburg incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
