Alvinston downs Essex in overtime, 6-5 (OT)

Kole Keating gave the Alvinston Flyers a 6-5 (OT) victory over the Essex 73s when he scored 2:24 into the extra period.

Alvinston nearly gave up a two-score lead. The Flyers made it 5-3 on a goal by Jeremy VanDeven at 12:40 in the third period. Essex got to within 5-4 on a goal by Brett Vorshuk at 18:39 in the third period.

Alvinston outdid its season average for goals scored. The Flyers average 3.3 goals per game.

Alvinston also got points from Joe Stock, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Alvinston also had goals scored by Fraser Wilson and Kirklin Dorman, who each put in one. More assists for Alvinston came via Clint Rose, who had two and Hunter Bryce, Mark McNally, Brady Swan, Carter Campbell, Frankie White, and Matt Gough, who each chipped in one.

The 73s' offense rang up 45 shots on Alvinston's net. Essex gave up more goals than its normal season average. The 73s are averaging 1.5 goal against for the season.

Essex additionally got points from Riley Meyerink, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Essex included Max Viselli and Michael Vieira, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Essex were Matthew Rosati, who had three and Adam Gaiarin, William Stadder, Anthony Cristofaro, Tyler Scott, and Dallas Pereira, who contributed one each.

Matt Boere rejected 40 shots on goal for the Flyers. Alvinston incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Essex took out Matt Badour after he had made seven saves and installed Trevor Wheaton in goal, where he finished with nine saves and the loss. The 73s incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
