Essex rolls over Wallaceburg, 8-1

The Essex 73s were firing on all cylinders against the Wallaceburg Lakers, and when the final buzzer sounded 73s emerged with an 8-1 win.
Brandon Flood (AP) had two goals and one assist to lead Essex. Flood (AP) scored the first of his two goals at 14:54 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Essex. Dallas Pereira picked up the assist. Flood (AP)'s next tally made the score 8-1 Essex with 2:57 left in the third period. Eric Shaw provided the assist.
The 73s excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Essex kept Wallaceburg's goalie busy throughout the game, and Alex Carriere made 56 saves on 64 shots. The 73s found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Essex averages 4.7 goals per game. The 73s' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in three goals.
Essex also got points from Riley Meyerink, who also registered one goal and three assists to lead the team in points, Kade McKibbon, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, William Stadder, who also finished with two goals and one assist, and Michael Vieira, who also had one goal and one assist. Essex also got a goal from Dan Mainella as well. In addition, Essex received assists from Adam Gaiarin and Tyler Boughner, who each chipped in one.
The Lakers struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as they finished the game with 26 penalty minutes for seven opposing power plays.
Matt Badour recorded 15 saves for Essex. The 73s incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. For Essex, Pereira was ejected from the game. Wallaceburg ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Jacob Theoret was ejected from the game.
