Blais' big game bests Dresden in 6-3 Mooretown win

Brent Blais was all over the ice for the Mooretown Flags, as he tallied two goals and one assist in Mooretown's 6-3 win over the Dresden Kings.

Blais scored at 5:43 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Mooretown and again while 15:21 into the third to make the score 6-2 Mooretown.

The Flags forced Dresden goalie Jake Wilkins to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots. Mooretown outdid its season average for goals scored. The Flags average 3.7 goals per game. Mooretown's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in three goals.

Mooretown also got points from Joe DeSena, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Jakob Reeves, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Mooretown included Mike Kindrachuk and Parker Gilhuly, who each put in one. In addition, Mooretown received assists from Colton Osborne, Landon Wilson, and Brandon Johnson, who contributed one each.

The Kings kept the Flags' goalie busy throughout the game, and Johnson made 44 saves on 47 shots.

Dresden was helped by Derek Daly, who racked up one goal. Daly scored on the power play 12:13 into the first period to make the score 1-1. The Kings had gotten the advantage when Mooretown's Blais was sent off for high sticking. Macks Holmes assisted on the tally. Taylor Sisson also scored for Dresden. More assists for Dresden came via Dillon Liberty, who had one and Derrick VanEvery, who had two.

The Flags totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. Mooretown ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Frankie White was ejected from the game. Jake Wilkins made 27 saves for Dresden on 33 shots. The Kings totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-5 on the power play. For Dresden, Kevin Ritzer was ejected from the game.
