The Dresden Kings tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Wheatley Omstead Sharks held on for a 2-1 victory. Wheatley took a 2-0 lead during the second period, only to have Dresden storm back on a Kyle Dawson goal 7:48 into the third period to pull to one goal down. The Kings were stymied by the Omstead Sharks' netminder Adam Leboeuf, who stopped 27 shots during the victory. The solid play of Leboeuf will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 4.92. Wheatley was led by Brady Hillock, who registered one goal. Hillock scored 12:35 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Wheatley. Delaney MacDonald assisted on the tally. Jack Leafeve also scored for Wheatley. More assists for Wheatley came via Brian Johnson, Brett Bowman, and Cole Butler, who each chipped in one. Dresden's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Wheatley power plays. The Kings did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Dresden averages 3.9 goals per game. Other players who recorded assists for Dresden were Brady Hogg, who had one. The Omstead Sharks incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Jake Wilkins made 24 saves for the Kings on 26 shots. Dresden incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. |
