Blenheim rolls over Wheatley, 9-0Blenheim Memorial Arena Sun, Sep 20, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Blenheim Blades had a seven-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 9-0 win over the Wheatley Omstead Sharks. Blenheim was led by Drew Marlatt, who racked up one goal and one assist. Marlatt scored 12:32 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Blenheim. Zack Horvath assisted on the tally. The Blades forced Wheatley's netminders to work without much rest, firing 45 shots and forcing 36 saves. Eric Morneau made 25 stops and Adam Leboeuf made 11. Blenheim put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Omstead Sharks to score on any of their four power plays. The Blades was steadier on the defensive front than they have been for much of this season. Blenheim averages 2.3 goals allowed per game. The Blades found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Blenheim averages 4.3 goals per game. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with four goals. Blenheim also got points from Bryan Boersma, who also registered two goals and one assist, Horvath, who also had two goals and three assists to lead the team in points, Nick Delyzer, who also finished with one goal and two assists, and Braeden Allore, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. Others who scored for Blenheim included Dylan Hathaway and Corbin Hagerman, who each put in one. In addition, Blenheim received assists from Matt Clark, who had two and Doug Ross, Owen Bateman, Kirk McKillop, Brayden Seliga, Nolan VandenBoorn, Kellen Kaniecki, and Dustin Maines, who contributed one each. Eric Stewardson made 21 saves for the Blades on 21 shots. Blenheim incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Wheatley incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
