Huge game by DeSena boosts Mooretown over Alvinston, 4-0

Joe DeSena was all over the ice for the Mooretown Flags, as he tallied two goals and one assist in Mooretown's 4-0 win over the Alvinston Flyers.

DeSena's tallies came on the power play at 12:01 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Mooretown and 15:03 into the third to make the score 2-0 Mooretown.

Brandon Johnson spearheaded the defensive effort for the Flags, as he did not allow a puck past him and made 52 saves for the shutout. Johnson managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.0 prior to the game.

Mooretown forced Alvinston's goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, getting 31 shots and forcing 27 saves. Cam MacAlpine made 26 stops and Matt Boere made one. The Flags' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Alvinston power plays.

Mooretown also had goals scored by Cameron Rannie and Kyle Smith, who scored one goal each. More assists for Mooretown came via Mike Kindrachuk, Nolan Riley, Brent Blais, Trevor Bogaert, Matt Brandon, Colin Osler, and Frankie White, who contributed one each.

Mooretown was unable to stop the Flyers from sending pucks towards the net, and Alvinston eventually piled up 52 shots on goal.

The Flags incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Flyers incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
