Matt Somerville gave the Niagara Riverhawks a 3-2 (OT) victory over the Simcoe Storm when he scored 4:59 into the extra period. Daniel Volpatti had a great game for Niagara, netting two goals. Volpatti's tallies came on the power play at 7:29 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Niagara and on the power play 16:34 into the second to make the score 2-1 Niagara. The Riverhawks managed to stay out of the box better than usual, registering one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Niagara ended up below its season average of 24.0 penalty minutes per game. The Riverhawks' offense rang up 50 shots on Simcoe's net. More assists for Niagara came via John Woolsey, who had two and Lucas Marcon, Andrew Somerville, and Dawson Ethier, who each chipped in one. The Storm were helped by Bradley Stitt, who grabbed one goal. Stitt scored on the power play 1:03 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Tyson Mike assisted on the tally. Simcoe also got a goal from Bruder Gabe as well. In addition, Simcoe received assists from Grant McKenzie, who had one and Alexander Polillo, who had two. Sebastian Iannone rejected 19 shots on goal for Niagara. The Riverhawks registered two goals on six power play opportunities. Nathen McKinnon made 47 saves for Simcoe on 50 shots. The Storm incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
