Glanbrook shrugs off penalties, upends Dunnville, 7-2Glanbrook Arena Wed, Dec 23, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Glanbrook Rangers, which found themselves down a man often, weathered the Dunnville Jr. Mudcats' power play opportunities and emerged with a 7-2 victory. Glanbrook was paced by Chris Haigh, who racked up one goal. Haigh scored 1:45 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Glanbrook. Drew Jedrzejewicz picked up the assist. The Rangers forced Jr. Mudcats' goaltenders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, launching 35 shots and forcing 28 saves. Jesse Schoeman made 14 stops and Brennan Head made 14. The defense for Glanbrook tightened up when it had players in the penalty box, as it let in one goal on 12 Dunnville power plays. The Rangers' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in four goals. Glanbrook additionally got points from Brandon Kolaski, who also registered two goals and one assist, Michael Fortino, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Josh Pace, who also had one goal and one assist, Brad Parish, who also racked up one goal and two assists, and Connor Maitz, who also registered one goal and two assists. More assists for Glanbrook came via Tyler Bell, Justin Whitwell, and Noah Matteson, who each chipped in one. The Jr. Mudcats found themselves short handed often, totaling 92 penalty minutes and allowing nine power plays. Dunnville was led by Jake MacDougall, who finished with one goal. MacDougall scored on the power play 10:10 into the first period to make the score 1-1. An interference penalty on Parish had put the Jr. Mudcats on the power play. Darcy Muller assisted on the tally. Matt Dolan also scored for Dunnville. In addition, Dunnville received assists from Mark Topp and Connor Schmalz, who contributed one each. Glanbrook's Alex Horawski stopped 26 shots out of the 28 that he faced. The Rangers incurred 116 minutes in penalty time with 18 minors. For Glanbrook, Jake Kelly, Maitz, and Cole Anderson were ejected from the contest.
