Dundas uses fast start to beat Simcoe, 9-2

The Dundas Blues opened up a four-goal lead after the first period and did not look back en route to a 9-2 win over the Simcoe Storm.

Liam Buckley had one goal and two assists to lead Dundas. Buckley scored short handed 11:34 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Dundas. The Blues were on a disadvantage when Ray Thompson went off the ice for interference.

Dundas' penalty kill excelled, as the Blues gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays.

Dundas forced Simcoe goalie Tyson Taylor to work between the pipes, taking 56 shots. The Blues found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Dundas averages 4.5 goals per game.

Dundas also got points from Thompson, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Mitch Moriarity, who also registered one goal and two assists. Others who scored for Dundas included Justin Homer, who had two and Max Giannone, Thomas Dowling, Connor King, and Chris Cudek, who scored one goal each. In addition, Dundas received assists from Cam Docherty, Phoenix Schueler, Clay Donnelly, Michael Young, Domenic Procopio, and Josh Morgan, who contributed one each and Bryce Robertson and Dan Pelosini, who each chipped in two.

The Storm excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in seven chances. Simcoe's offense rang up 34 shots on the Blues' net. The Storm could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game.

Simcoe was led by Kent Wardell, who racked up one goal and one assist. Wardell scored 9:44 into the second period to make the score 7-1 Dundas. Zak Culbert picked up the assist. Alexander Polillo also scored for Simcoe.

Colin Bilik rejected 32 shots on goal for Dundas. The Blues incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Taylor recorded 47 saves for the Storm.
