Dundas holds on for 5-4 win against Hagersville

The Hagersville Hawks tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the Dundas Blues held on for a 5-4 victory.

Dundas took a 4-1 lead during the second period, only to have Hagersville storm back on a Dan Mederios goal 3:53 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

The Blues were led by Dan Pelosini, who finished with one goal. Pelosini scored 10:55 into the third period to make the score 5-4 Dundas. Justin Homer picked up the assist.

Dundas' offense rang up 40 shots on the Hawks' net.

Dundas additionally got points from Bryce Robertson, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Ray Thompson, who also had one goal and one assist, and Homer, who also registered one goal and one assist. Domenic Procopio also scored for Dundas. More assists for Dundas came via Chris Cudek, who had two and Mitch Moriarity, Thomas Dowling, and Connor King, who contributed one each.

Hagersville put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Blues to score on any of their four power plays.

The Hawks were helped by Ethan Hager, who finished with one goal. Hager scored on the power play 3:28 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Dundas. Hagersville had taken the advantage when Dundas' Jaden Simoneau got sent off for tripping. Bailey Fletcher assisted on the tally. Others who scored for Hagersville included Jordy Land and Mitch Green, who each put in one. In addition, Hagersville received assists from Cole Martin, who had two and Sebastian Welc, Aaron Panter, and Jake Reichheld, who each chipped in one.

Andrew Albano made 25 saves for the Blues on 29 shots. Dundas incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Stephen Tierney rejected 35 shots on goal for the Hawks. Hagersville incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
