Matt Dolan had two goals to lead the Dunnville Jr. Mudcats to a 6-3 victory over the Niagara Riverhawks. Dolan scored at 9:51 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Dunnville and again while 12:00 into the first to make the score 3-2 Dunnville.Dunnville's penalty kill excelled, as the Jr. Mudcats gave up zero goals despite allowing 10 power plays. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 11:40 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. Dunnville racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with 11 minors and one major for 37 minutes in penalty time. The Jr. Mudcats surpassed its season average of 25.0 penalty minutes per game. Dunnville stifled Niagara's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Dunnville also got points from Luke Rowe, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Josh Phibbs also scored for Dunnville. More assists for Dunnville came via Connor Hannigan, Dane Koabel, Travis Sheldrake, Chad Springer, and Sawyer Madden, who contributed one each and Connor Schmalz and Damien Lalonde, who each chipped in two. The Riverhawks forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up 10 minors and one major for 35 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 26.0 minutes per game Niagara had been spending in the box. The Riverhawks put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Jr. Mudcats to score on any of their nine power plays. Niagara was led by Richard Deschatelets, who racked up one goal and one assist. Deschatelets scored 10:25 into the first period to make the score 2-2. Others who scored for Niagara included Danny Ledwez and Volpati Daniel, who scored one goal each. In addition, Niagara received assists from Bailey Sowrey, Jamie Bennett, and Robert Shaw, who contributed one each. Jackson Roberts rejected 22 shots on goal for Dunnville. The Jr. Mudcats ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Schmalz was ejected from the game. The Riverhawks' starting goalie, Scott Charanduk, made zero saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Sebastian Iannone, who stopped 13 shots. For Niagara, Dante Zawadzki was ejected from the game.
