Simcoe falls to Niagara in overtime, 5-4 (OT)Gale Centre Thu, Oct 29, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Niagara Riverhawks pulled out a 5-4 (OT) overtime victory over the Simcoe Storm on a clutch goal by Brandon McLean. Niagara was paced by McLean, who finished with one goal. McLean scored 4:40 into overtime to make the score 5-4 Niagara. In a losing effort, Simcoe was led by Drake Bailey, who registered two goals. Bailey scored the first of his two goals at 1:29 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Niagara. Bailey's next tally made the score 3-3 with 7:12 left in the second period. Tyson Mike provided the assist. The Riverhawks' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Simcoe power plays. Niagara kept the Storm's goalie busy throughout the game, and Tyson Taylor made 30 saves on 35 shots. Niagara additionally got points from Andrew Somerville, who also had one goal and one assist and Jamie Bennett, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Niagara also had goals scored by Volpati Daniel and Dawson Ethier, who each put in one. In addition, Niagara received assists from Alex Cipriano, Dante Zawadzki, and Robert Shaw, who contributed one each. Others who scored for Simcoe included Dakota Culbert and Darren Lynch, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Simcoe were Zak Culbert, Jack Lamain, Alexander Polillo, and Austin Lavigne, who each chipped in one. Sebastian Iannone made 19 saves for the Riverhawks on 23 shots. Niagara incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Riverhawks ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Matt Somerville was ejected from the game. Simcoe incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
