Niagara blows out Glanbrook, 7-2Gale Centre Thu, Oct 22, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Niagara Riverhawks had a four-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 7-2 win over the Glanbrook Rangers. Robert Shaw was all over the ice for Niagara, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Shaw scored the first of his two goals at 11:37 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Niagara. Jamie Bennett assisted on the tally. Shaw's next tally made the score 7-2 Niagara with 18:00 left in the third period. Bennett picked up the assist. The Riverhawks' penalty kill excelled, as Niagara gave up zero goals despite allowing seven power plays. The Riverhawks stifled Glanbrook's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Niagara found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Riverhawks average 4.0 goals per game. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals. Niagara additionally got points from Andrew Somerville, who also had one goal and two assists, Brandon McLean, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Bennett, who also racked up one goal and two assists. Niagara also had goals scored by Matt Somerville and Dante Zawadzki, who each put in one. In addition, Niagara received assists from Danny Gallagher, who had two and Dawson Ethier and Alex Cipriano, who each chipped in one. The Rangers did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Glanbrook averages 5.0 goals per game. The Rangers kept Niagara's goalie busy throughout the game, and Scott Charanduk made 31 saves on 33 shots. Glanbrook was helped by Josh Anger, who registered one goal. Anger scored 7:18 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Niagara. Josh Pace provided the assist. Jeff May also scored for Glanbrook. Other players who recorded assists for Glanbrook were Michael Fortino and Chris Haigh, who contributed one each. The Riverhawks incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Matthew Venturelli made 13 saves before being replaced by Jay Payton, who took the loss and made eight saves. The Rangers incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. For Glanbrook, May was ejected from the game.
