Dunnville blows out Simcoe, 9-4

The Dunnville Jr. Mudcats had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 9-4 win over the Simcoe Storm.

Dunnville got the win behind a great game by Matt Dolan, who had one goal and two assists. Dolan scored 16 seconds into the second period to make the score 3-1 Dunnville. Dane Koabel picked up the assist.

The Jr. Mudcats kept Simcoe's goalie busy throughout the game, and Nathen McKinnon made 44 saves on 53 shots. Dunnville's goal total was higher than its season average. The Jr. Mudcats have scored at the pace of 3.8 goals per game during the current campaign. Dunnville got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Dunnville also got points from Koabel, who also had one goal and three assists to lead the team in points, Damien Lalonde, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Luke Rowe, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Dunnville included Jordan Gilles, Josh Meeuwse, Darcy Muller, Devin Lampert, and Sawyer Madden, who scored one goal each. In addition, Dunnville received assists from Travis Sheldrake, who had two and Mitch Holodniuk, Connor Hannigan, and Callum Smith, who each chipped in one.

The Jr. Mudcats were unable to stop the Storm from sending pucks towards the net, and Simcoe eventually piled up 40 shots on goal.

The Storm were helped by Bradley Stitt, who racked up one goal. Stitt scored 15:34 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Dunnville. Austin Lavigne assisted on the tally. Simcoe additionally got points from Darren Lynch, who also tallied two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Simcoe also got a goal from Ben Woods as well. Other players who recorded assists for Simcoe were Kevin Cameron, who had one and Dakota Culbert, who had two.

Brennan Head made 36 saves for Dunnville on 40 shots. The Jr. Mudcats totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. For Dunnville, Cody LeVasseur was ejected from the game. Simcoe totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. The Storm ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Lavigne was ejected from the game.
