Hagersville squeaks by Port Dover, 4-2

The game between the Hagersville Hawks and the Port Dover Sailors was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Hagersville emerged with a 4-2 win.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Cole Martin at 15:58 of the third period.

The Hawks were paced by Martin, who racked up one goal.

Hagersville's offense rang up 48 shots on Port Dover's net.

Hagersville additionally got points from Bailey Fletcher, who also had one goal and one assist and Dan Mederios, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Hagersville also got a goal from Derek Friesen as well. Other players who recorded assists for Hagersville were MIchael Arch, who had two and Aaron Panter and Brayden Hill, who each chipped in one.

The Sailors put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Hawks to score on any of their four power plays. Port Dover could not produce up to its normal offensive output. The Sailors put an average of 4.5 pucks into the net per game. Port Dover kept Hagersville's goalie busy throughout the game, and Stephen Tierney made 43 saves on 45 shots.

The Sailors were helped by Parker Watson, who registered one goal. Watson scored on the power play 2:19 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Port Dover. Port Dover earned a power play opportunity when Hill was put in the box for roughing. Colton McLeod provided the assist. Port Dover also got points from McLeod, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. More assists for Port Dover came via Travis Walker, Colin Montour, and Eric O`Keefe, who contributed one each.

The Hawks incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Sailors' Rene Kloepfer stopped 44 shots out of the 48 that he faced. Port Dover incurred 28 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
