Port Dover survives Dundas comeback, wins 7-5

The Port Dover Sailors came close to giving away a four-goal lead to the Dundas Blues, but did just enough to escape with a 7-5 victory.

Port Dover led by four goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Sailors' Eric O`Keefe scored at 19:33 in the second period to put Port Dover up 6-2.

Braden Roberts had two goals to lead the Sailors to victory. Roberts' tallies came on the power play at 40 seconds into the second period to make the score 2-1 Port Dover and 19:49 into the third to make the score 7-5 Port Dover.

Port Dover pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 36 penalty minutes.

Dundas was unable to stop the Sailors from sending pucks towards the net, and Port Dover eventually piled up 35 shots on goal. The Sailors outdid their season average for goals scored. Port Dover has scored at the pace of 3.4 goals per game during the current campaign.

Port Dover also got points from Michael Almas, who also tallied one goal and three assists to lead the team in points and Michael Boateng, who also registered one goal and one assist. Port Dover also got a goal from Jordan Lenko as well. Other players who recorded assists for Port Dover were Bradon Dunnett, Bryson Barr, and Connor Epping, who contributed one each.

The Blues could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 36 minutes in penalties during the game.

Dundas was led by Chris Cudek, who racked up two goals and one assist. Cudek scored the first of his two goals at 15:01 into the third period to make the score 6-3 Port Dover. Ray Thompson picked up the assist. Cudek's next tally made the score 6-5 Port Dover with 1:06 left in the third period. Liam Buckley assisted on the tally. Dundas additionally got points from Justin Homer, who also had one goal and one assist. Dundas also had goals scored by Bryce Robertson and Mitch Moriarity, who scored one goal each. In addition, Dundas received assists from Jaden Simoneau, Dan Pelosini, Domenic Procopio, and Cam McConnell, who each chipped in one.

Rene Kloepfer made 25 saves for the Sailors on 30 shots. Port Dover registered two goals on seven power play opportunities. The Blues' Andrew Albano stopped 28 shots out of the 35 that he faced. Dundas registered one goal on seven power play opportunities. For the Blues, Phoenix Schueler was ejected from the game.
