Port Dover falls to Niagara in overtime, 5-4 (OT)Gale Centre Thu, Oct 01, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Niagara Riverhawks' Robert Shaw scored 1:30 into overtime to beat the Port Dover Sailors, 5-4 (OT). Shaw had two goals to lead Niagara to victory. Port Dover was unable to stop the Riverhawks from sending pucks towards the net, and Niagara eventually piled up 39 shots on goal. The Riverhawks capitalized on the Sailors' penalties, netting two goals while skating with a man advantage. Niagara additionally got points from Brandon McLean, who also finished with two goals and one assist. Dawson Ethier also scored for Niagara. More assists for Niagara came via Andrew Somerville, who had two and Alex Cipriano, who had four. Port Dover forced Niagara goalie Scott Charanduk to work between the pipes, taking 50 shots. The Sailors were helped by Eric O`Keefe, who grabbed one goal. O`Keefe scored 6:41 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Port Dover. Bradon Dunnett assisted on the tally. Port Dover also got points from Alex Takacs, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Port Dover included Michael Almas and Travis Walker, who each put in one. In addition, Port Dover received assists from Jordan Lenko, Sebastian Welc, Colin Montour, and Josh Turberfield, who contributed one each. Scott Charanduk made 46 saves for the Riverhawks on 50 shots. Niagara incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Port Dover's Rene Kloepfer stopped 34 shots out of the 39 that he faced. The Sailors incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
