Dunnville blows out Port Dover, 9-4

The Dunnville Jr. Mudcats had a five-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 9-4 win over the Port Dover Sailors.

Chad Springer had one goal and four assists to lead Dunnville. Springer scored 12:28 into the first period to make the score 3-0 Dunnville. Luke Rowe picked up the assist.

The Jr. Mudcats' offense rang up 31 shots on Port Dover's net. Dunnville's goal total was higher than its season average. This season, the Jr. Mudcats average 5.0 goals per contest. Dunnville's penalty kill unit could not stop the Sailors' power play, which converted on two of three opportunities. The Jr. Mudcats got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Dunnville additionally got points from Josh Meeuwse, who also had one goal and one assist, Steven Czepek, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Davis Hart, who also racked up one goal and two assists, and Rowe, who also registered one goal and three assists. Others who scored for Dunnville included Mitch Holodnuik, Darcy Mueller, Damien Lalonde, and Sawyer Madden, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Dunnville were Josh Phibbs, Jake MacDougall, Matt Dolan, Aaron Krajcir, and Jackson Roberts, who contributed one each.

Port Dover excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Dunnville was unable to stop the Sailors from sending pucks towards the net, and Port Dover eventually piled up 33 shots on goal.

The Sailors were helped by Eric O`Keefe, who had one goal and one assist. O`Keefe scored 18:56 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Dunnville. Josh Turberfield provided the assist. Port Dover also got points from Travis Walker, who also registered one goal and one assist. Port Dover also had goals scored by Alex Tackas and Colton McLeod, who each put in one. In addition, Port Dover received assists from Bradon Dunnett, Kyle Dedecker, Michael Almas, and Colin Montour, who each chipped in one.

Jackson Roberts made 29 saves for the Jr. Mudcats on 33 shots. Dunnville incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Rene Kloepfer recorded 22 saves for Port Dover. The Sailors incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
