West Michigan squeaks by Pittsburgh, 5-3

Devin Farkas had two goals to lead West Michigan to victory.

Pittsburgh's power play was ineffective against West Michigan's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

West Michigan stifled Pittsburgh's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.West Michigan kept Pittsburgh's goalie busy throughout the game, and Daniel Lee made 31 saves on 36 shots.

West Michigan also had goals scored by Trevor Temple, Zach Hand, and Ryan Price, who each put in one. In addition, West Michigan received assists from Corey Siwula, who had two and Brandon Benaglio, Justin Bloomfield, Brendon Block, and Mitch Kalleward, who each chipped in one.

Pittsburgh were helped by Perry Shiring, who grabbed one goal and one assist.Shiring scored in the second period to make the score 2-1 Pittsburgh. Adam Schaffer provided the assist.Pittsburgh additionally got points from Schaffer, who also registered one goal and one assist. Pittsburgh also got a goal from Vincent Casale as well. More assists for Pittsburgh came via Gavin Cummings, Dominick Glavach, and Brian Grant, who contributed one apiece.

Maxwell Barr made 23 saves for West Michigan on 26 shots. West Michigan totaled 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-7 on the power play. Pittsburgh incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with six minors. For Pittsburgh, Anthony Szurlej was ejected from the game.
