Toledo survives penalties, beats Cincinnati, 5-2

In the losing effort, Cincinnati were led by Kyle Kinnaman, who had two goals. Kinnaman scored the first of his two goals at 12:51 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Toledo. Hunter Schneider and Albert Janele registered the assists on the goal. Kinnaman's next tally made the score 4-2 Toledo in the third period. The goal was assisted by Jacob Friedman and Janele.

Toledo kept Cincinnati's goalie busy throughout the game, and Tyler Geloneck made 37 saves on 42 shots.

Toledo were helped by Daniel Goodwin, who tallied one goal.Goodwin scored in the second period to make the score 3-1 Toledo. Nick Nappi claimed the first assist on the goal, and Ben Hamilton got the second.Toledo additionally got points from Josh Somers, who also registered one goal and one assist and Tyler Zalecki, who also registered one goal and one assist. Toledo also had goals scored by Isaiah Crawford, Goodwin, and Tristin Snyder, who each put in one. In addition, Toledo received assists from Ricky Kwapich and Hamilton, who each chipped in two and David Bogart, Austin Turner, and Nappi, who contributed one apiece.

Cincinnati put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Toledo to score on any of their five power plays.

More assists for Cincinnati came via Janele, who had two and Friedman and Schneider, who each chipped in one.

Cody Gibson rejected 20 shots on goal for Toledo. Toledo ended with 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major. Cincinnati totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-6 on the power play.
