Metro blows out Southern Tier, 6-3

Metro had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-3 win over Southern Tier.

Metro pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 24 penalty minutes.

Metro's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Southern Tier power plays. Metro's offense rang up 49 shots on Southern Tier's net.

Metro was led by Mathias Tellstrom, who registered one goal and two assists. Tellstrom scored 6:32 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Metro. Kevin Shand provided the assist. Metro additionally got points from Pearce Vance, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Shand, who also had one goal and one assist. Metro also got a goal from Matt Dempsey as well. In addition, Metro received assists from David Chavis, Marc Schwartz, Jacob Drinkard, Chase Sereno, and Jason Recchia, who contributed one each.

Southern Tier was led by Joseph Gerace, who racked up one goal and two assists. Gerace scored 15:30 into the second period to make the score 5-3 Metro. Luke Grossman picked up the assist. Southern Tier also got points from Grossman, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Jacob St. Andre also scored for Southern Tier. Other players who recorded assists for Southern Tier were Jacob Zwieg, who had one.

Austin Kane recorded 17 saves for Metro. Metro registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. Southern Tier's Timothy OSullivan stopped 43 shots out of the 49 that he faced. Southern Tier incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
