Early goals doom Billings, falls to Great Falls, 9-2

Billings fell behind early, and Great Falls kept piling on the points on the way to a 9-2 victory.

Great Falls was led by Ricards Bernhards, who registered one goal and one assist. Bernhards scored 15:29 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Great Falls. Josh Larson picked up the assist.

Great Falls forced Billings' goaltenders to work all game long, totaling 62 shots and forcing 53 saves. Brandon Brown made 33 stops and Gage Overby made 20. Great Falls' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Billings power plays. Great Falls surpassed its usual scoring output this season. Great Falls averages 4.3 goals per game. Great Falls got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed three goals during the game.

Great Falls additionally got points from Blake Miller, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Tegan Harrington, who also had one goal and two assists, Kyle Johnson, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Larson, who also registered one goal and one assist, Tanner Congdon, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Brendan Jester, who also had one goal and one assist. Great Falls also got a goal from Reed Link as well. In addition, Great Falls received assists from Austin Krantz, who had two, Tyler Garcia, who had three, and Stevan Goran, Wade Wylie, and Miles Giorgione, who contributed one each.

Others who scored for Billings included Dillon Steh and Mason Graves, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Billings were Keith Gustin, Jeremy Vandekerkhove, and Chris Nicolai, who each chipped in one.

Great Falls' Jake Stephan stopped 27 shots out of the 29 that he faced. Great Falls incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Billings incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
