Toledo wins tough contest against Wooster, 5-3

Toledo gutted out a close 5-3 win against Wooster.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Austin Turner at 15:13 of the third period.

Ricky Kwapich had two goals to lead Toledo to victory. Kwapich found the back of the net 6:34 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Toledo and again while 15:50 into the third to make the score 5-3 Toledo.

Toledo additionally got points from Isaiah Crawford, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Josh Somers, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. In addition, Toledo received assists from David Bogart, Josh Smith, Dan Hudy, Nikolas Verbosky, and Tristin Snyder, who contributed one each.

Wooster excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances.

Wooster was helped by Christian Miller, who racked up one goal. Miller scored on the power play 6:24 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Wooster. Wooster had taken the advantage when Toledo's Shane Dunsmore got sent off for holding. Brad Sneed assisted on the tally. Others who scored for Wooster included Noah Keener and Will Schober, who scored one goal each. More assists for Wooster came via Daniel Nugent, who had two and Mike Zenone and Nick Mooney, who each chipped in one.

Cody Gibson made 16 saves for Toledo on 19 shots. Toledo incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Joe Morgan recorded 18 saves for Wooster. Wooster incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
