Somers' hat trick boosts Toledo over Southern Tier, 7-1

Josh Somers netted a hat trick to lead Toledo over Southern Tier, 7-1.

Somers' first goal came 12:51 into the first period. He then added goals at 15:30 into the first and at 7:31 into the third.

Toledo's Glen Bates was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 26 saves and let only one puck past him. Bates certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.25 entering the contest.

Southern Tier was unable to stop Toledo from sending pucks towards the net, and Toledo eventually piled up 59 shots on goal. Toledo bested its season scoring average. This season, Toledo averages 3.9 goals per contest. Toledo was ineffective while on the power play, as it was held to one goal off of nine man advantages.

Toledo additionally got points from Darryl Kuchcinski, who also registered one goal and one assist and Shane Dunsmore, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Toledo included Tyler Zalecki and Ethan Resetar, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Toledo were Isaiah Crawford, who had three, Austin Turner, Alec Walny, and Graham Goupille, who each chipped in one, and Ricky Kwapich and Ben Hamilton, who contributed two each.

Toledo incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Timothy OSullivan made 52 saves for Southern Tier on 59 shots. Southern Tier incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
