Zehnder nets hat trick, leads Twin City to 12-1 win over Chicago

Yannick Zehnder lifted Twin City to a 12-1 victory with a hat trick against Chicago.

Zehnder's first goal came 12:25 into the first period. He then added goals at 13:33 into the second and at 8:53 into the third.

Twin City led 4-0 after the opening frame the first period and maintained a healthy margin after.

Twin City forced Chicago's goaltenders to work between the pipes, taking 58 shots and forcing 46 saves. Sergey Markelov made 12 stops and Alec Paloumpis made 34. Twin City's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Chicago power plays. Twin City bested its season scoring average. This season, Twin City averages 4.3 goals per contest. The defensemen of Twin City were also effective in Chicago's zone, and came away with three goals.

Twin City additionally got points from Tyler Hoff, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Bennett Witta, who also had one goal and two assists. Others who scored for Twin City included Nicholas Campbell, who had three and Zak Lambrecht and Joe Costello, who each put in two. In addition, Twin City received assists from Tyler Nystrom and Alex Egle, who contributed one each, James Hale, Tristan Mayer, Luc Kreuser, and Jay Paul, who each chipped in two, and Zackary Taylor and Paul Stehr, who contributed three each.

Chicago found itself short handed often, totaling 27 penalty minutes and allowing six power plays.

Gunnar Howg rejected 14 shots on goal for Twin City. Twin City ended with 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major.
