Huge game by Clouston boosts Chicago over Southern Tier, 5-3

Chicago's Vaughn Clouston had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing two assists in his team's 5-3 win over Southern Tier.

Clouston found the back of the net on the power play 8:59 into the second period to make the score 2-2 and again while 12:51 into the second to make the score 4-3 Chicago.

Chicago racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with seven minors and one major for 39 minutes in penalty time. Chicago had been averaging 35.0 minutes in penalties per game. Chicago surpassed its usual scoring output this season. This season, Chicago averages 2.1 goals per contest.

Chicago additionally got points from Timothy Hoffenkamp, who also registered one goal and three assists to lead the team in points. Chicago also had goals scored by Jake Borth and Bryce Freel, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Chicago were Kevin Ely, who had two and Oliver Breton, Connor Senn, and Eric Arrigo, who contributed one each.

Southern Tier could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 28 minutes in penalties during the game.

Southern Tier was helped by Devin Laird, who racked up one goal. Laird scored 1:33 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Joshua Butterworh picked up the assist. Southern Tier also got points from Luke Grossman, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Joshua Malin also scored for Southern Tier. More assists for Southern Tier came via Joseph Gerace, Ben Gallivan, and Kyler Chartier, who each chipped in one.

Ryall Purdy made 23 saves for Chicago on 26 shots. Chicago registered one goal on five power play opportunities. Timothy OSullivan recorded 21 saves for Southern Tier. Southern Tier registered one goal on five power play opportunities. Southern Tier ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Butterworh was ejected from the game.
