Metro blows out Rochester, 8-1

Metro had a six-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to an 8-1 win over Rochester.

Metro got the win thanks to a great game by Jacob Drinkard, who had two goals and two assists. Drinkard scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 3:51 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Metro. Metro had gained a power play chance when Vladislav Shipota was whistled for cross checking. Graham Day assisted on the tally. Drinkard's next tally on the power play made the score 4-0 Metro with 14:01 left in the second period. Matt Dempsey provided the assist.

Metro kept Rochester's goalie busy throughout the game, and Kyle Plantz made 37 saves on 45 shots. Metro surpassed its usual scoring output this season. Metro averages 4.8 goals per game. Metro was effective with a man advantage, and put in two goals while on the power play.

Metro additionally got points from Pearce Vance, who also registered one goal and two assists and Chas Distelrath, who also had one goal and two assists. Metro also had goals scored by Mathias Tellstrom, Robert Flannery, Chase Sereno, and Kevin Shand, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Metro were David Chavis, Stefan Boskovic, Michael Tratar, and Devin Kelly, who each chipped in one.

Rochester did not challenge the opposing netminder, only getting 14 shots on net to force 13 saves.

Kameron Limburg made 13 saves for Metro on 14 shots. Metro incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Rochester incurred 26 minutes in penalty time with three minors.
