Southern Tier falls to Toledo in overtime, 7-6 (OT)

Ben Hamilton gave Toledo a 7-6 (OT) victory over Southern Tier when he scored 4:26 into the extra period.

Toledo came back from a three-goal deficit to capture the victory. Toledo was down 6-3 after a goal by Southern Tier's Kyler Chartier at 3:18 in the third period. Toledo knotted things up at 6-6 on a goal by Tyler Zalecki at 19:06 in the third period.

Hamilton had a great game for Toledo, netting two goals.

Toledo kept Southern Tier's goalie busy throughout the game, and Jared Hebner made 50 saves on 57 shots. Toledo found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, Toledo averages 3.6 goals per contest. Toledo got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Toledo also got points from Ricky Kwapich, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Zalecki, who also had two goals and two assists to lead the team in points, and Austin Turner, who also finished with two goals and one assist. In addition, Toledo received assists from Josh Smith, who had one, Nick Papandrea, who had two, and Tristin Snyder, who had three.

Southern Tier's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Toledo power plays. Southern Tier forced Toledo goalie Glen Bates to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots. Southern Tier surpassed its usual scoring output this season. Southern Tier averages 2.6 goals per game.

Southern Tier additionally got points from Brian Grant, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Curtis Carlson, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Elijah Williams, who also registered one goal and one assist. Southern Tier also got a goal from Hunter Kepple as well. More assists for Southern Tier came via Luke Grossman, who had two and Justin Andriaccio, Joshua Malin, Andre Vanlew, and Chris Hubbard, who each chipped in one.

Bates rejected 31 shots on goal for Toledo. Toledo ended with 19 minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major. For Toledo, Nolan Stanley was ejected from the game. Southern Tier incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
