Atlanta blows out Sugar Land, 7-0

Atlanta had a five-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 7-0 win over Sugar Land.

Atlanta pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 22 penalty minutes.

Atlanta was paced by Ross Bartlett, who had one goal. Bartlett scored 6:34 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Atlanta. Artus Laukaitis picked up the assist.

Atlanta stifled Sugar Land's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Atlanta's defensive play was more effective than usual against Sugar Land. Atlanta gives up 2.6 goals on average per game. Atlanta's offense rang up 37 shots on Sugar Land's net.

Atlanta also got points from Frank Trazzera, who also registered two goals and one assist to lead the team in points and Dylan Wattles, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Atlanta also got a goal from Kyle Rimbach as well. More assists for Atlanta came via Aleksi Hoivala, Drew Kelly, Riley Hummitsch, Evan Camba, and Alex Johanson, who each chipped in one and Andrew Cooley, Jesse Brown, and Colin OConnor, who contributed two each.

Sugar Land was held below its usual level of production. Sugar Land puts an average of 3.2 pucks into the net per game. Sugar Land's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Sugar Land finished with 23 penalty minutes.

Atlanta's Alekandr Zendejas stopped 18 shots out of the 18 that he faced. Atlanta registered two goals on six power play opportunities. Kevin Mackey made 30 saves for Sugar Land on 37 shots. Sugar Land registered zero goals on seven power play opportunities.
