Texas uses big second period to beat Louisiana, 7-1

Louisiana allowed Texas to net three goals during the second period and fell, 7-1.

Ryan Dunner had two goals and one assist to lead Texas. Dunner scored the first of his two goals at 19:20 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Texas. Chase Deacon provided the assist. Dunner's next tally made the score 4-1 Texas with 15:36 left in the second period. Kyle Galloway picked up the assist.

Texas' offense rang up 50 shots on Louisiana's net. Texas outdid its season average for goals scored. Texas averages 4.5 goals per game.

Texas also got points from Bryan Whelan, who also registered two goals and one assist. Victor Ekk also scored for Texas. In addition, Texas received assists from Mykyta Sheptytsky, who had three and Oliver Hay, Brock Brown, Hunter Frado, and Zack Andersen, who contributed one each.

Louisiana did not challenge the opposing netminder, only getting 11 shots on net to force 10 saves.

Louisiana was led by Timothy Zittel, who scored the team's only goal. Zittel scored on the power play 6:57 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Louisiana had taken the advantage when Texas' George Hansen got sent off for interference. Mitch Dolese provided the assist.

Brandon Perrone recorded 10 saves for Texas. Texas incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Louisiana's Sean Angle stopped 43 shots out of the 50 that he faced. Louisiana incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
