Metro holds on for 4-3 win against West Michigan

West Michigan tried its best to erase a three-goal deficit, but Metro would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-3.

Metro made the score 4-1 on a goal by Graham Day at 15:42 in the second period, and West Michigan got as close as 4-3 when Devin Farkas scored 9:22 into the third period.

Metro got the win with help from a great game by Jacob Drinkard, who had two goals and one assist. Drinkard scored the first of his two goals at 15:08 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Metro. Kevin Shand picked up the assist. Drinkard's next tally made the score 3-1 Metro with 13:13 left in the second period. A hooking penalty on Brendon Block had put Metro on the power play. Stefan Boskovic assisted on the tally.

Metro's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three West Michigan power plays. Metro's offense rang up 40 shots on West Michigan's net.

Metro also got points from Shand, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Metro were Jason Recchia, who had two and Marc Schwartz, Michael Tratar, and Mathias Tellstrom, who each chipped in one.

West Michigan also had goals scored by Chase Whallon and Korey Muzzy, who each put in one. More assists for West Michigan came via Connor Henderson and TJ Krajewski, who contributed one each.

Kameron Limburg rejected 23 shots on goal for Metro. Metro incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Samuel Woznicki recorded 36 saves for West Michigan. West Michigan incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
