Metro tried to dig itself out of a three-goal hole, but Southern Tier held on for a 5-3 victory.

Southern Tier made the score 5-2 on a goal by Kyler Chartier at 18:28 in the second period, and Metro got as close as 5-3 when Kevin Shand scored 6:20 into the third period.

Metro's seven penalties came back to haunt it, as Metro let up four goals while on the penalty kill.

Southern Tier excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Southern Tier found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Southern Tier averages 2.5 goals per game. Southern Tier could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 19 minutes in penalties during the game.

Southern Tier was helped by Luke Grossman, who finished with one goal. Grossman scored on the power play 4:27 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Southern Tier. Tait Aptakin assisted on the tally. Southern Tier also got points from Curtis Carlson, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Chartier, who also grabbed two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Brian Grant also scored for Southern Tier. Other players who recorded assists for Southern Tier were Justin Andriaccio, Joshua Malin, Ingus Matins, Elijah Williams, and Matt Crosby, who contributed one each.

Metro was often in penalty trouble, totaling six minors and one major for 37 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 24.0 minutes per game Metro had been spending in the box. Metro kept Southern Tier's goalie busy throughout the game, and Ryan Pascarella made 36 saves on 39 shots. Metro gave up more goals than its normal season average. Metro averages 2.3 goals allowed per game.

More assists for Metro came via Michael Tratar, who had two and Mathias Tellstrom, Robert Flannery, and Dylan Naumovski, who each chipped in one.

Kameron Limburg took the loss and made 19 saves before being replaced by Trevor Kalinowski who made three saves. Metro ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Naumovski was ejected from the game.
